Dieting History

All, from locking myself into a health spa for 3 months to Weight Watchers and even, sadly, the Atkins diet for two weeks. I almost fainted on that one!

All did have some moderate success, but inevitably I gained the weight back, and then some!

Have you lost weight before and regained the weight?

I have always been heavy, even as a teenager, and every time I lost the weight, I would gain it back and more! Even going to the health spas did not work in the long term, as I would always gain the weight back eventually, and it was hard to keep up the extreme exercise advocated by the health spa, basically 1-2 hours a day six days a week.

How being overweight has affected you…

I have extremely low self esteem, and have always felt on the sidelines of everything, thinking that I was never good enough for anyone, or anything. In the past, I would always excuse myself with friends, family and boyfriends because of my weight, and I always had everyone monitoring my eating habits. Especially my exes. They would want me to lose weight, and of course with all the pressure, I would always rebel against them, and eat more.

Motivation to Diet

I will turn 40 in January, and at the start of 2005, I vowed I would never be fat after 40. I felt as if I had wasted my life, and will not do so anymore. I am now thinner than I have ever been in my adult life, and will remain so. Otherwise, I’m in big trouble as I either altered or threw away all my fat clothes! I am now a size 10-12 and am loving it!

Discovering Weight Loss Resources

I discovered WLR through the internet, and tried it a couple of times in 2004, but never really got into it until this year, when I was determined to lose the weight. I have now stayed on this programme for nine months, and it worked. I feel like I have found my ‘Holy Grail’, and discovered a way to continue to lose weight and keep it off in the future. I still have a way to go, but I am determined now, and have had so much positive feedback, that as the saying goes, ‘nothing tastes as good as thin feels.’

The fact that anyone can actually use this method over a long term period speaks for itself. As we all know diets inevitably fail, whereas a change in eating habits and a surefire method of control (WLR) can change your life. It did mine…

How Weight Loss Resources Helps

When I started with WLR, it was a very lonely journey, as I did not use the message pages or the chat. For the first 7 months, I stuck to the regime like a soldier, inputting and weighing all my food accurately. This was essential, and having to do this curbed my social life drastically. I stopped drinking alcohol, because, frankly, I’d rather eat my calories than drink them! I have started drinking again moderately, but if it is a choice between an extra potato and a glass of bubbly, the food wins hands down!

I still weigh my food at home and at work, and everyone I work with is now used to my scales! But it really works, and if you have the determination, and the tools (WLR) you cannot lose! I am normally the last person to lose the weight and keep it off and be a role model of weight loss, but here I am, and it wasn’t even hard. There was no self denial, I was never hungry, and I was able to work out moderately, and not kill myself, like I used to do in the past.

Other members on the site have been incredible, and we laugh and cry together…

The Best of Weight Loss Resources

I live on the food website, and the site is open on my desk at work every weekday. I generally do not use the site on the weekends, and it gives me a break from the constant number crunching.

I love the articles, and reading about other people’s successes, and there are so many!!! Its brilliant, and thank you WLR for all your help! I recommend this website to everyone, since I am so proud of my achievements.

Dina's Dieting Tips

The most important thing is not to cheat putting your calories on the website. You only end up cheating yourself. The WLR method is brilliant, because when you do write everything down, it adds up your calories for the whole week, so it makes it very hard to say to yourself ‘Oh, I’ve had a bad meal, I’ll just write this day off and eat what I want and start tomorrow.’ Even though I have done this, you know that it will ruin the whole week, so it makes you think before you put fatty high calorie food into your mouth. Having said this, I do eat chocolates or chips or other ‘naughty’ foods, but I generally weigh them and eat a smaller amount and put the calories into the website. Even on 1100 calories, you can have 10 grams of chocolate and not go over, I promise! 10 grams, by the way is around 1 piece or one bite. Not bad, really!

This website saved my life.
